Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia

It is with pride I pen a few lines on the occasion of the launching of the inaugural Malaysia Brands Directory 2007-2008.

Malaysia in upholding and protecting the principles of fair trade has consistently supported fair and equitable initiatives in the World Trade Organization (WTO) to strengthen the global trading system. Malaysia is also firmly entrenched in the regional and multilateral trading environment and truly committed to fair and liberal trade through various framework such as ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA), Asia Pacific Economic Corporation (APEC) and ASEAN Integrated System of Preferences (AISP)

Malaysia is one of the most dynamic manufacturing exporters in Southeast Asia. Based on the current development of global economic climate couple with the intention of creating Malaysian brands with quality and to differentiate Malaysia's products and services in the world market, the government has also put effort into branding of Malaysian exports products, which provides a global benchmark for the product.

By creating our own products, which carry Malaysian designs and brands, it will able to carry our brands into the international arena in term of international recognition and acceptance.

I commend the private initiative and enterprise of the publisher of Malaysia Brands Directory 2007-2008, Axos (M) Sdn Bhd for creating a dynamic platform such that Malaysian Brands are in the spotlight of global markets.
